The leaves develop a magenta veneer and there are some color breaks in the veneer which look like cream colored spots

more of a red-purple in good light

and dusted with a thick layer of silvery trichomes

The primary bracts are leaf-like and blush reddish purple at anthesis

The inflorescence is a simple spike with bright yellow flowers

Tillandsia 'Charmer' vipp 10-9 The leaves develop a magentaThis plant is a descendent of a wild collected plant that came to us in the 1990s with Tillandsia ionantha v. vanhyningii . Our best guess is that this plant could be a natural hybrid of (ionantha v. vanhyningii x chiapensis) even though we cant be sure of course. Both species are dominant in crosses but in this case it looks like the ionantha v. vanhyningii is the stronger. Charmer looks more like a giant ionantha v. vanhyningii than anything else.
